I travelled to Mauritius taking honeymoon package from Garg Airlinks Delhi in first week of February. My contact point was Deepak who was very helpful and sent me all the required information needed beforehand. I also had taken lot of reviews from friends who had taken tour package from Garg Airlinks before- they all gave a good review. Althogh the package is overly priced - but the good reviews by my friends convinced me to choose Garg Airlinks.
Garg Airlinks offers different range of hotels in Mauritus at different prices.Although the Price of Grand Maurition Resort & Spa hotel was a little more than Indian Resort & Spa stay - and I was ready to take up Grand Maurition Resort & Spa --to make sure I spend my honeymoon in the best Hotel . The Garg Airlinks staff recommended me Indian Resort & Spa over Grand Maurition Resort - due to its better Indian feedback and indian restaurants in Indian Resort .But due to my late decision i got my confirmation in Indian Resort only.I appreciate their informed suggestion on this- which proved good when I reached mauritius and had a chance to interact with fellow passengers who stayed in Grand Maurition .
The dealings were professional I got my tickets within 4-5 days for mauritius. They also booked my seats on the flight on twin seats (The Air Mauritius flight had arrangements like this ->2 + 4+2 - so get the seats booked before)
Garg Airlinks has a tie up with MyHolidays tour operators in mauritius. The moment I reached Mauritius at 8:30 AM airport I could see My Holidays people holding my name. Once they collected all people travelling to Indian Resort & Spa - theytook us in a mini van ( we were 3 couples) and took us to Hotel which was around 1 hour journey.
The hotel was awesome -please see my review on Indian Resort & Spa Mauritius. We were asked to rest on the first day and meet an executive at 4:30 pm in Hotel’s Lobby. We met Dude from My holidays who explained the tour details for the next 7 days. For one day where they take us to a beach having water activities; she proposed optional paid water sporting activities package with free lunch. We also had 2 leisure days - in which she proposed few cruises / safari etc.
We took water sport activity package for 6000 MR and a dolphin cruise for 4000 MR ( both prices for a couple). We chose to explore the Indian Resort & Spa for one day - as we had lot of free activities within the Hotel -free spa;water skiing;paddle boat;sailing;swimming, hammam, jacuzzi etc.
Breakfast,Lunch and Dinner( All meals only in Indian Resort & Spa )were free for all the days and we had to pay nothing to the Hotel- all of it was covered in the package.
The only places we paid money out of our pocket was - entry ticket for Botanical garden ( 100 MR per person) .Shopping in Mauritius is usually very expensive - and I recommend - not to indulge in shopping. We just took few souvenirs and t shirts all of it were costly if you compare that with India - keep aside 2500-3000 MR for the same. Mauritius T shirts costs ( 150 MR - 350 MR) - Decent and cheap Souvenirs cost ( 250 - 300 MR +). If you buy more - you get discounts from shopowners.
We took a local mobile phone connection(Emtel) in mauritius for 150 MR in which we got 125 MR as talk time - call to india was 5.6 MR/min.The phone gets activated on production of your passport copy within 1 hour.
Advice - Do convert your Indian Rupee to USD from India itself. Around 800-1000 USD is sufficient from 6 N - 7 D but depends on your spending pattern. we intially converted only 500 USD to mauritian rupee at Mauritius Airport -all the banks offered the same rate in and out of airport. There is no cheating in this regard. So you can always have the option of converting your USD to mauritian rupee anywhere in Mauritius later on.Plan accordingly.
Area of improvement - They had a list of travellers and had to take all of them before we could depart from hotel. Sometimes we were taken in mini AC bus with 3 couples to share- which were better, sometimes in big AC buses with 13-15 families -which took lot of time.During transfers from one location to another - there was a little mis management - where we lost lot of our times on a few days...although the helpful guide (Dude) kept us informed and kept us busy with other stuffs.Group transfers can be better arranged to give a much better feeling.
The tour used to end by 5 pm and we
